MY SPECIALITIES
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
My practice draws from many different counselling theories including mindful and strength based approaches and is responsive to the needs of the individuals I am working with. It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship between the client and the practitioner is of utmost importance, and I work hard to create a safe space for clients to feel cared for on their journeys of self discovery, growth and healing. I am currently seeing adults and teens (over the age of 13).
FAMILIES
I believe that we all belong to and are part of various life systems that impact our lives. The family system - in the various configurations and arrangements in which it is experienced - is one system that has a strong impact and influence on our wellbeing. Working with families has been a passion of mine for many years, and I have specific training and experience in supporting families experiencing parent-teen conflict.
COUPLES/RELATIONSHIP ISSUES
Esther Perel writes, "The quality of your life ultimately depends on the quality of your relationships." Whether this is within romantic relationships, friendships, work relationships or relationships with family members (including pets!), my work helps people create and sustain more satisfying and supportive relational patterns and interactions in their lives.
DIVORCE/SEPARATION
Divorce/separation can be a painful and difficult decision for everyone involved. My approach supports individuals and couples as they work through the emotional and practical elements involved in separation, acknowledging that like all life changes, divorce and separation have the potential to lead to personal growth and healing.
STRESS & OVERWHELM
Stress is a normal physical and emotional response to change. Stress becomes toxic and overwhelming when it begins to impact our functioning in our personal and professional relationships and our overall wellbeing. My approach supports individuals in setting boundaries and developing assertive approaches to deal with situations and expectations that cause feelings of overwhelm and toxic stress.
GRIEF
Grief is a natural, internal and emotional response to loss. Everyone experiences grief differently. My approach supports individuals through their own unique experiences and responses to loss, recognizing that grief is not a process to be overcome but a process to be experienced with support and care. My therapeutic approach to loss is compassionate, relational and individualized to the need of each client.
DEPRESSION & ANXIETY
Using a strengths based and collaborative approach, I support clients in understanding and working through the underlying issues related to depression and anxiety. My approach is holistic and works to help individuals understand how past and present factors may be contributing to the complex nature of their experiences of depression and anxiety. I draw on mindfulness and trauma informed practices in my work.
SELF WORTH
An essential tenet of my therapeutic approach is that personal wellbeing stems from our own belief that we are good enough, and deserving of love and belonging. My approach works to creative a safe, supportive and caring environment to work through life's challenges with love and care for oneself.
